Legend tells us that on a Good Friday morning, when he should have been in church, Saint Hubert was instead hunting in the forest. After an arduous pursuit of a magnificent stag, Hubert was in a perfect position to kill the animal. However, when it turned to look at him, an astonished Hubert could see a crucifix floating between its antlers. Hubert fell to his knees and prostrated himself before the Lord, who instructed him to return to church where he belonged.
