I've been wanting to do a retro motel shoot since my early Photography School Days. (early 2000's) but just quite never found the right location that wasn't just a room. Jake found this studio in Los Angeles where they re-created an entire 60's motel and home with 8 sets and I knew this was the spot. My theme was simple... what if Joss lived in the 60's but was still the buff shirtless Joss of today? (lol). Major props to Joss because we shot this in December and it was FREEZING cold. Even though the heat was on... it takes many hours to heat an entire movie set. But Joss the eternal trooper took one for the team and was shirtless almost the entire day.

I mean if that is not the most beautiful story I don't know what is. What a lesson for all of us. And what a beautiful lesson that can be carried in a small medal.

Stainless Steel Ring on Rope style chain necklace

One of our favorite styles. This was 100% inspired by a customer who kept requesting it. He told me he wanted to put a ring on a chain and I assumed he had the ring and just wanted a chain to wear it around his neck like a lot of guys do, so I was like "just buy any chain (for your ring)" but then he kept asking me to show him the ring and that's when I got what he meant.

Maybe he saw another guy wearing his wedding band on chain and thought that was just a style of pendant. Who knows! But of that this style was born.

A super minimalist ring band on a 2.5mm rope style chain. This is actually a ring you can wear but we don't size them so don't come after me if the ring is not your size! ha!

I confess I used to tell guys all the time not to wear necklaces with tanktops. Legit, I have no clue where I got that from. I thought it was a big no-no. Then I started seeing guys doing it and I was like "hmm, that ACTUALLY looks great". So now I'm on the bandwagon of "You MUST wear a necklace with a tank" (lol).

So I think my issue was that I realized for it to look good you had to wear a chain on the longer side and make sure the pendant (if you were wearing a chain with one) lay on top of the fabric of the shirt. Not your skin and not half and half. That's (my) rule. But really, if you are feeling it and wearing it with confidence, anything goes.

Teachable moment. What makes a Figaro Chain a Figaro? The design consists of a 3 to 1 ratio of round links to oval link. Originally from Italy, some say the name was inspired by the opera The Marriage of Figaro.

I'll be honest, originally I didn't love this classic link but the more customers started me asking me for it, and I finally added it to the collection, I became a fan. After wearing it a couple times I realized it was a more elegant chain that was easier to style for special occasions.

Something about it just feels more elevated than a regular curb chain that has similar links without the 3 to 1 pattern. It reads more stylish and more intentional. A timeless and classic amulet. Siddhartha Gautama, most commonly referred to as the Buddha ("the awakened"), was a wandering ascetic and religious teacher who lived in South Asia during the 6th or 5th century BCE and founded Buddhism. A couple of centuries after his death, he came to be known by the title Buddha, which means "Awakened One" or "Enlightened One".

The OG! This was our very first cross pendant released way back when. Now we carry a ton of different options but this is the one that started it all. Perhaps I was onto something when I made this because every single cross that was available for men was gigantic. I kept thinking that all the guys I knew, myself included, rather wear a small and minimalist pendant. And I was right. Since then we are kinda known for our small and minimalist cross designs. The cross has a small bail and hangs from a 1.8mm round box chain with lobster clasp. It is available in 16, 18, 20, 22, 24 and 26 inches.

Saint Christopher Medal on Venetian Round Box 3mm Chain

Of all the stories of saints and deities, Saint Christopher's story is by far my favorite one. According to legend, Saint Christopher devoted his life to carrying the weak and poor across a river. One night, when he was carrying a child, he felt his burden grow heavier with each step. When questioned, the child declared that he was Christ and that Christopher was thus bearing the weight of the world.

Saint Christopher is considered the Patron Saint of travelers.

Large Saint Benedcit Medal for Men

The St. Benedict medal is one of the oldest and most honored medals and, due to the belief in its power against evil, is also known as the "devil-chasing medal".

The back of the medal carries the Vade Retro Satana ("Begone, Satan!") formula which has been used to ward off evil since the 15th century.

The medal is used as a protection amulet to ward off spiritual and physical dangers, especially those related to evil, poison, and temptation. Surrounding the figure of Saint Benedict are the words Eius in obitu nostro praesentia muniamur! ("May we be strengthened by his presence in the hour of our death").

Buddha Necklace for Men

A close cousin to the Cuban chain we talked about in previous blogs, the CURB chain is similar but the links don't have the bevel edge that makes them flatter so by eliminating the facet the Cuban has less reflective surfaces and therefore is more subdued.
